Excerpt of comments by juror in awarding top honors at "A Portrait of America" exhibition for this bust:
" I chose to follow the values espoused by the early artists of the Hudson River School. In their work they were continually striving to communicate Truth, Beauty, and Excellence.
In Doug Bieniek's sculpture, "Wolf Robe" I found the artistic values I was looking for and I also saw the story of this land. I appreciate the composition, and the sensitive rendering of the details of face and figure that bring the man and his land together.
Congratulations!
"
Frederick D. Somers
